[DJ COTTON HERE MIX] Best Of Rocko (Cotton Morning Mix)

Best Of Rocko cover

On the low, Rocko is probably the most slept-on and creative rapper out now.  His mixtapes actually follow and execute concepts.  He’s been  consistently made hits with each mixtape since breaking out on the scene in 2008.  I like to hear people talk about making money and actually backing it up because it helps motivate me. Rocko came out during the “Swag Rap” era and is the only one left still making hits.  Turn up this mix and get out here and get this paper!

  1. U.O.E.N.O.
  2. Nachos
  3. Goin Steady
  4. PhuckUThot
  5. Slang

[DJ COTTON HERE MIX] Best Of Travis Porter #GiveNGoMix Pt. 1

Thus group was the blueprint for this decade of rappers.
Thus group was the blueprint for this decade of rappers.

Man Travis Porter was the hottest rap group at the start of this decade.  They emerged from the “futuristic swag” era of Atlanta rap (still evident on songs like “Black Boy White Boy”) and and brought back fun, party music.  They also helped bring back “twerk music” and artist like K-Stylis should thank them because, after the Ying Yang Twins’ decline, trap and snap music dominated clubs.  If Soulja Boy was the poster artist of the MySpace/early YouTube era, Travis Porter was the blueprint for the Twitter/DatPiff/WorldStar era with their vlogs and  DVD documentaries that they included with their mixtapes.  They took Soulja Boy’s model and advanced it to create a huge viral presense on a generation of hip-hop fans that were getting smartphones for the first time.

I was a early fan of Travis Porter and their “Streetz R Us” collab mixtape with a young Waka Flocka Flame was the anthem for TSU Homecoming 2009 and helped establish both artists. It really is one of the best mixtapes of the last 5 years because it really laid the blueprint for the party music that we hear today. You really could play that entire mixtape for an entire party and keep the crowd rocking.

I personally think Travis Porter started to rely too much on making twerk music instead and kind of abandoned the fun, carefree party music like “Waffle House” that they really excelled at.  Them signing to Jive Records really was the worst thing that happened to them because the quality of their mixtapes and songs really suffered. Enjoy this Best Of #GiveNGo featuring some of their best songs.

  1. Black Boy White Boy
  2. Spiffed Up
  3. Lemme Thru
  4. Hotel
  5. Bananas
  6. Whole hood **** Wit Me
  7. Dem Girls feat. Big Sean
  8. Go Shorty Go
  9. Make That *** Clap
  10. College Girl
  11. That’s Dem
  12. Uhh Huhh Pt. 2
  13. Hell U Talmbout feat. Waka Flocka Flame
  14. Waffle House feat. Waka Flocka Flame
  15. Uhh Huh
