DIGGIN IN THE EXTERNAL: Lupe Fiasco – “Tilted Pt. 3″

I decided to start uploading random tracks from my external hard drive that people may have slept on or forgotten. What better to start this off than to post this mixtape track from Lupe that shows why he’s the best gangsta rapper out of the Chi.

Don’t let the glasses fool ya at all. On this track Lupe spits some real about the different gangs in the Chi such as the Gangster Disciples, Conservative Vice Lords, Black Souls, 4 Corner Hustlers, El Rukns and Latin Kings. He spits alot of stuff that only people who really know about Folk & People gang culture will get. For example, the song it titled “Tilted” because gang affiliation with these gangs is signified by which side a hat is tilted. Lupe even says that he got his name from hanging around Latin Kings.

Forced to drop the forks or you gotta run home/

Or you gotta run anyway after you drop the Folks/

Cause they were really Folks lookin for somebody to jump on/

Wars, Lords shoot up all the corners they hung on/

Hear the squeezing from my region, running to come home/

Laws, lessons, sessions and mandates/

Picnic collections, lit, signs throwin & handshakes

My homies was breakin it so I was breakin it too/

If they started chasing them then they was chasing me too

Some of the dopest lines about gang life ever.
